About the Gulf Islands: This is the most popular day-trip destination for kayakers in British Columbia, with a multitude of accessible options. With frequent ferry service from Vancouver and Washington state to Vancouver Island, these islands off southeastern Vancouver Island make a wonderful destination, with numerous island clusters with etched sandstone cliffs and draping arbutus and Garry oak trees. Many of the more isolated smaller islands are generally either provincial parks or within the new Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, making for a network of short hops between possible highlights and campsites.
